The Full Re-Upholstery
On every full re-upholstery project we would carry out a frame inspection, stripping piece down to framework and, if necessary, re-joint, re-dowel, re-glue and clamp to strengthen.

The base is then re-webbed using strong weave scotch webbing and together with double cone coil springs, which are hand stitched together, with lacing cord, ensures a secure bond to webbing.
Top lashing of springs follows with lacing cord individually knotted and tacked to frame. Springs are then covered in 12oz heavy duty seat Hessian, which is top stitched by hand.
A sequence of bridle stitches are then sewn around outer edge and over top of seat.

First stuffing of either horse hair or fibre is then applied to seat, teased and knitted into the shape and after covering with a linen scrim is hand stitched to form desired shape. A further layer of bridle stitches is then applied to secure a top stuffing – which is usually a softer good quality hair. A calico lining is fitted to cover all stuffing, topped with a soft cotton wadding prior to application of customer’s chosen fabric.

Final fabric is hand cut, taking into consideration pattern repeats, when matching is required. Cushions can be box piped, plain seamed or bergere-style with goblet corners.
When it comes to choosing your cushions, there are a number of choices in terms of fillings - here are a few examples:
1. Down
2. Feather and Down – made with wax cambric pocketed covers
3. Reflex Foam

NB.
All fabrics are fire retardant to BS 5852 PART 1, BS 5852 PART 2, BS7176 crib 5 standard or used in conjunction with FR barrier interliner where required.
All foam cushions are fire retardant and wrapped with a polyester sheet wadding and stockinette wrap.
